About the Role:
Make an Impact in Federal AI — Without a Full-Time Commitment
DKC Group is seeking a seasoned AI SME / AI Systems Engineer to support federal clients as they evaluate, design, and implement practical AI solutions in mission environments. This role is ideal for an experienced AI professional who wants to apply deep technical and federal market expertise in a flexible, half-time role with an expected commitment of 40 hours or less per month. If you understand how to translate mission needs into AI use cases, technical approaches, and implementation strategies and you are comfortable advising in federal environments-- we would like to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and AI-powered applications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement AI/ML solutions for client needs
- Build and maintain data pipelines, model training workflows, and inference systems
- Evaluate and integrate large language models (LLMs), generative AI tools, and emerging AI frameworks
- Monitor model performance, conduct testing, and iterate on improvements
- Document technical architectures, methodologies, and best practices
- Stay current with AI/ML research and translate advancements into practical applications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field
- Proven experience in machine learning, deep learning, or AI engineering
- Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
- Experience with NLP, LLMs, or generative AI tools (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and MLOps practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Federal AI strategy, digital transformation, or data modernization experience
- Familiarity with Responsible AI and AI governance
- Consulting experience supporting government clients
